Robert Ouimet has been leading workshops and training sessions for 20 years. Drawing on his broadcast and digital media experience, we custom design workshops to meet our client’s specific needs and goals.
Our key workshops are called DigiCamp. These are hands-on intensive workshops that range from 3 to 5 days in length.
The request came from then head of NFB Interactive Rob McLaughlin (now VP at Post Media) who had worked with Robert at CBC Radio 3 and on publishing workshops they did together at Simon Fraser University’s Canadian Centre for Studies in Publishing.
Robert and Sue created a 5 day program drawing extensively on Sue’s background in adult learning and design thinking/rapid prototying. Sue has an MA in Organizational Leadership.
We’ve continued to produce DigiCamps for the NFB (twelve to date), as well as for Nunavut Film in Rankin Inlet. We bring in world-class media professionals who work side-by-side with participants through the course of the workshop.
Participants consistently rate DigiCamp as one of the most productive and inspiring workshops they’ve ever attended. The model is so successful, we’ve adapted it to other types of training, particularly social media workshops.
At their core, the workshops use rapid development of prototypes, a high instructor to participant ratio, and an “everyone learns/everyone teaches” model. Participants learn by doing, thus embodying new ideas, perspectives and skills through experience. Robert and Sue also adjust the workshops throughout the week. This ‘on the fly’ tuning ensures that each participant gets the maximum benefit from the workshop.
Course design is customized for each client.
